Program Comparison
Our medical clinic offers three comprehensive programs to best suit your healthcare needs. These programs approach medical weight loss differently. Our programs are based on Phentermine, Semaglutide, or Tirzepatide. Read below for more information on how each differs.
Phentermine Route
Phentermine is a low-cost prescription medication taken by mouth once a day. Phentermine helps suppress your appetite and increases your resting metabolic rate.
What does Phentermine do?
- Reduces appetite and hunger
- Feelings of fullness
- Increases resting metabolic rate
How Does Phentermine Work?
- Central nervous system (CNS) stimulant (adrenergic agonist)
- Increases release of norepinephrine in the hypothalamus
- Reduces hunger perception
- Decreases appetite
- Increases heart rate
- Causes fat cells to break down stored fat
Semaglutide Route
Semaglutide is a Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used to treat chronic weight management in individuals who are obese or overweight. Semaglutide is administered subcutaneously once a week. Semaglutide helps promote weight loss by regulating appetite and increasing feelings of fullness.
What does Semaglutide do?
- Decreases glucagon release
- Increases insulin release (reduces blood sugar)
- Feelings of fullness
- Reduces appetite and hunger
- Delayed stomach emptying
- Gastrointestinal fat absorption
- Decreases the fondness for fatty, energy-dense foods
- Reduces cardiovascular risks (e.g. heart attack, stroke) in adults with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and obesity or overweight
How Does Semaglutide Work?
- GLP-1 receptor agonist
- Mimics the functions of the natural hormone GLP-1
- GLP-1 is released in response to food intake, causing increased insulin production, slowed down digestion, and reduced appetite
Tirzepatide Route
Tirzepatide is both a Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide (GIP) and GLP-1 receptor agonist used to treat chronic weight management in individuals who are obese or overweight. Tirzepatide is administered subcutaneously once a week.
What does Tirzepatide do?
- Inhibits glucagon release
- Suppresses appetite
- Delays stomach emptying
- Stimulates insulin production
- Lowers blood sugar levels
- Increases insulin production
- Increases energy
How Does Tirzepatide Work?
- A dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor co-agonist
- GLP-1 and GIP are secreted in the intestinal tract in response to food
- GLP-1 and GIP stimulate insulin release, decrease glucose synthesis and increase the feeling of fullness
